Not every name, logo, or sign can be approved. To qualify for registration, your trademark must be distinctive and must not conflict with existing rights or public rules.

Marks that may be refused include:

• Generic or purely descriptive words with no distinctive character

• National flags, official emblems, military symbols, and public logos
• Religious symbols or signs similar to religious symbols

Trademark registration in the UAE is available to companies, establishments, and individuals. If the trademark owner is located outside the UAE, the application must be submitted through a registration agent, and a notarized and legally translated power of attorney must be attached.
